I am a scholar, teacher, and writer living in Atlanta, Georgia. My primary focus is American culture and literature and have written on topics such as Midwestern literature; popular culture and music (Bruce Springsteen, folk music, Walt Disney); and 19th century thinkers such as Abraham Lincoln.

Some of my courses  include Composition courses such as:  “The Power of ‘Truthiness’: Thinking and Writing Empirically in a Post-Fact World;" “We Understand, Then, Do We Not: Narrative and Empathy in Fictional Forms;" and Perspectives courses such as: "Project Labs: Georgia State University Prison Education Project;" "
Make Nostalgia Great Again: Cultural Politics of Nostalgia, 1980-present;" and "Just Because You're Paranoid Doesn't Mean They're Not After You: Pop Culture and Paranoia." Currently, I serve as an Assistant Professor of English at Perimeter College, Georgia State University in Alpharetta, Georgia and as a coordinator of the Georgia State University Prison Education Project. I am the winner of several teaching awards, including: Portnoy Prize for Outstanding Honors Faculty at Perimeter College (2020), Teaching for Social Justice and Democracy Teaching Award (2021), and Outstanding Junior Faculty at Perimeter College (2021).
