Picture
I am a scholar, teacher, and writer living in Atlanta, Georgia. My primary focus is American culture and literature. I have written on topics such as popular culture and politics; honors and prison pedagogy; Midwestern literature; and 19th century thinkers such as Abraham Lincoln. 

Currently, I serve as an Associate Professor of English at Perimeter College, Georgia State University in Decatur, Georgia. Some of my courses include Composition courses such as:  "Joy," "Paranoia and Nostalgia; or How (Not) to Do Research," and "The Power of Truthiness: Thinking and Writing Empirically in a Post-Fact World and Perspectives courses such as: "Project Labs: Georgia State University Prison Education Project;" "Make Nostalgia Great Again: Cultural Politics of Nostalgia, 1980-present;" and "Just Because You're Paranoid Doesn't Mean They're Not After You: Pop Culture and Paranoia." I have been recognized for excellence in teaching throughout my career, including: Portnoy Prize for Outstanding Honors Faculty at Perimeter College (2020), Teaching for Social Justice and Democracy Teaching Award (2021), Outstanding Junior Faculty at Perimeter College (2021). I also served as a Governor's Teaching Fellow at the Louise McBee Institute for Higher Education at the University of Georgia in 2023-24. 

From 2019-2023, I served as a coordinator with the Georgia State University Prison Education Project.
